ANIMATED INTRO

A music video tribute to the video game "Dead by Daylight".

Featuring the studio's original characters' abilities and gameplay.

I was responsible for the entire film from creating storyboards, rough animation, clean-up, coloring, editing, effects, and publishing.

Scene / Lyrics Breakdown

"That I'm losing my mind."

I associated this phrase with the doctor who is mentally unstable, he also has a shock attack so I added sparks.

"That I'm losing my mind."

Here I show the spirit, another character who's also lost their mind after seeing her mother die before her.

"Trying to find the perfect line."

I drew a hatchet which is thrown by the huntress. In the game, this is very hard to line up due to trees / obstacles in the way, I think it fit the lyrics perfectly.

"Trying to find the perfect line."

And then I cut to a survivor vaulting the window, this also requires a strait line in the game to gain maximum speed.

"Trying to find the perfect line."

The one who follows behind her is not her friend anymore, but an enemy, hinting this killer's special ability that he can vault over windows quickly.

"I think I'm running out of time."

We see a survivor on a hook, they only have 1 minute to be rescued, so time is important.

I then cut to a pocket watch (Borrowed Time), which is an ability in the game which helps you gain time by staying alive longer.

"I need a mira-miracle, a mira-miracle"

These are both in-game perk icons, 2 of the most commonly used ones, I used the slight of hand to transition the scene.

This second perk (Decisive Strike) grants the ability to escape the killer's grasp. However, to use it you must time the strike perfectly, so to hit it is a "miracle".

The blood shifts into shadows which guide the viewer's eyes back to the 4 survivors. This matches the lobby screen in the game.

When all players ready up, the killer's line will strike through the rest, I overlapped the logo onto the people behind, symbolizing their body's about to get slashed.

"I need a mira-miracle, a mira-miracle"

At the end I show a stylized logo of the game.

"..."

The camera spins, and the loop restarts, just like how in the game the survivors and killers are stuck in an endless loop of escaping and killing.
